The Vinča Institute of Nuclear Sciences was once again in the public spotlight, this time through the guest appearance of Dr. Predrag Božović, a scientific associate. The central topic of the appearance was non-ionizing radiation and the Vinča Institute's contribution to this field, primarily through the metrology of non-ionizing radiation.

Dr. Božović thoroughly explained Vinča's two-pronged approach in this area. The first research approach is reflected in the Institute's participation in the project 24RPT02 MetroMag – European Infrastructure for Low magnetic field metrology within the EU Horizon R&I Programme. This project aims to strengthen European capacities in the field of metrology, with the Vinča Institute making significant contributions through numerical simulations and digitalization.

The second, equally important segment, comprises commercial measurements. Here, the Vinča Institute, through its working unit, the Laboratory for Radiation Protection and Environmental Protection, plays a crucial role thanks to its accreditation for this type of measurement, as well as authorization from the Ministry of Environmental Protection. This ensures the reliability and official validity of the measurements, thereby protecting public health and the environment.

During the discussion, Dr. Božović particularly emphasized the importance of understanding limit values and legal regulations, with a special focus on zones of particular significance – areas where the population regularly resides and lives. He clarified key concepts affecting public safety concerning non-ionizing radiation.

This guest appearance once again confirms the Vinča Institute's leading role in public health protection and the advancement of science in Serbia.
