The 10th International WeBIOPATR Workshop and Conference
PARTICULATE MATTER: RESEARCH AND MANAGEMENT
Welcome to the 10th WeBIOPATR Anniversary Conference, WeBIOPATR2025, to be held in Belgrade, Serbia, 26.–28.11.2025.
The first WeBIOPATR, „International Workshop and Conference, Particulate Matter: Research and Management“ took place in Belgrade in 2007. Its aim was to create a forum for Serbian and Western-Balkan experts and air pollution stakeholders to inform each other about state of knowledge in atmospheric research in Serbia and internationally, and about opportunities and barriers to reduce air pollution and especially, particulate matter (PM) towards safer levels. The conference is held every 2nd year since.
In the past decades, we have learnt much about the levels and negative effects of PM in Serbia, Western Balkan and all over the world, and we have taken into use new sensing and digital technologies. The research carried out in Serbia has been significantly expanded and better integrated in the international research community.
The air pollution burden in Serbia and Balkan region has diminished but still needs to be reduced in line with the World Health Organization’s latest air quality guidelines and the recently adopted revised European Air Quality Directive (EU) 2024/2881. Bringing both the outdoor and the indoor levels towards safer levels concerns residential areas of large and small cities, industrial areas, and small settlements. Updated and new knowledge is needed to support the mitigation efforts.
WeBIOPATR2025 will be held with support of the WeBaSOOP project – Research Reinforcing in the Western Balkans in Offline and Online Monitoring and Source Identification of Atmospheric Particles, GA No 101060170, Horizon Europe Framework Programme for Research and Innovation, European Union.
Information regarding WeBIOPATR2025 will be distributed by e-mail and made available on the conference web site https://www.vin.bg.ac.rs/webiopatr/2025/ and the WeBaSOOP project portal, https://webasoop.vinca.rs/.
WeBIOPATR2025 will continue the exchange of information and ideas in topics related to Particulate Matter Research and Management, in the following sessions:
