The Laboratory for radioisotopes of the Vinca Institute is a unique and modern scientific laboratory in the region, for the development, production and quality control of radioactive drugs-radiopharmaceuticals. It is registered by the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia for the production of radiopharmaceuticals in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP production). All radiopharmaceuticals are registered in accordance with EU regulations in the Agency for Medicines of the Republic of Serbia. Vinca's radiopharmaceuticals are the result of multidisciplinary research and are of inestimable value to thousands of patients per year who receive them during various diagnostic and therapeutic procedures in all clinical centers in Serbia and Republika of Srpska.

radiofarmaceutici 1 1The specificity and quality of Vinca's radiopharmaceuticals is personalized therapy, i.e. a strictly individual approach to each patient, because an appropriate dose of radiopharmaceuticals is determined and prepared for each patient based on his condition, type and course of the disease.

Vinca’s Universal 99Mo/99mTc generator for obtaining the radionuclide technetium-99m, which in the form of a complex with various compounds enables sensitive and specific diagnosis and prediction of the course of a large number of diseases, including the most common, malignant ones and myocardial infarction, is celebrating 40 years of successful clinical applications. Therapeutic radiopharmaceuticals, radioactive 131I capsules, are indispensable in the treatment of hyperthyroidism and thyroid cancer, as well as 177Lu labeled peptides used in the treatment of neuroendocrine tumors.

In addition, the Laboratory plays an important role in the industry, as it replaces sealed radioactive sources in devices used to examine internal defects in metals, devices for measuring the level of explosive liquids and liquids under the high pressure in chemical reactors, and devices for radiotherapy in medical centres and thus allows users, in addition to significant savings, unlimited use of the device, as well as safe work in accordance with their needs.

The Laboratory for radioisotope is the only one in the Republic of Serbia that has licenses for high-risk radiation activities for the production of radiopharmaceuticals for use in medicine, the production, repackaging and recycling of sealed radioactive sources that are used in industry, as well as scientific research activities with open and closed radiation sources.
